The plaintiffs allege they are the owners and proprietors of certain lots °f ground, with the improvements and buildings thereon, situated in the city of Lafayette, and have been in quiet possession thereof for upwards of fifteen years. That before they erected the stores and buildings on their lots they called on a sworn surveyor of the State, there being then none in the parish of Jefferson, to show them their lines and boundaries on which to build.
