This is an action to recover the value of baggage consisting of a trunk and its contents destroyed by fire in the defendant’s depot at Covington, Tennessee. The action was commenced before a justice of the peace in the city of St. Louis. Thence the case went on appeal to the circuit court. A trial anew in the circuit court with a jury resulted in a verdict and judg*509ment in favor of the plaintiff for five hundred dollars.
