MEMORANDUM AND ORDER

STEWART E. BLAND, Bankruptcy Judge.

This matter comes before the Court on motion of the debtor, by counsel, to extend his proposed plan for a period of five (5) years pursuant to § 1322(c) of the Bankruptcy Code, 11 U.S.C. § 1322(e), which provides that “. .. [t]he plan may not provide for payments over a period that is longer than three years, unless the court, for cause, approves a longer period, but the court may not approve a period that is longer than five years.” The trustee has recommended against confirmation of the plan as filed, extending for five years.
