Plaintiff-appellee, Security Mutual Casualty Company (Security Mutual), a reinsurer of primary insurance contracts, brought this suit as a declaratory judgment action seeking a determination of its rights and liabilities under a reinsurance treaty with Century Casualty Company (Century), the defendant-appellant, and recovery of its expenses in participating in an appeal from a judgment against one of Century’s insureds.
