MOORE, Justice.

In this matter of first impression before us we consider the meaning of the term “prevailing party” for purposes of the award of costs under Superior Court Civil Rule 54(d) (“Rule 54(d)”). The appellants, a group of workers and their spouses (the “Graham trial group”), filed suit against at least twenty manufacturers and/or suppliers of asbestos for injuries sustained as a result of their exposure to that product.
