Defendant appeals from his felonious assault conviction arguing that the trial court erroneously excluded all references to the victim’s juvenile court record. Finding no merit in defendant’s contention, we affirm.

After the jury was impaneled and opening statements were completed, the prosecutor made the following motion before calling his first witness:
