Appellee Virginia Flemmings filed suit against Howard University, her former employer, for violating the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, 42 U.S.C. § 12101 et seq. (the “ADA”). Flemmings suffers from vertigo and Meniere’s disease, which in 1996 and 1997 first substantially limited her ability to drive, then precluded her from working at all.
