The petitioner seeks reinstatement in his employment as a laborer in the classified service of the city of Brockton.
The city duly accepted the provisions of G. L. (Ter. Ed.) c. 31, § 47, relative to the employment of laborers designated as the "labor service” under the civil service law, effective on July 1, 1937. On that date the petitioner was, and had been for some time prior thereto, in the employ of said city as a laborer, and continued in such employment until September 1, 1937, when he was discharged without being given any reasons therefor in writing (see G. L. [Ter. Ed.] c. 31, § 43)…
