Steven Lyle Lay appeals the circuit court’s summary denial of his petition for postconviction relief filed pursuant to Rule 32, Ala. R.Crim. P. The petition challenged his 2001 convictions for two counts of third-degree robbery, violations of § 13A-8-43, Ala.Code 1975, and one count of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, a violation of § 13A-12-212, Ala. Code 1975, and the resulting concurrent sentences, as an habitual offender, of life imprisonment for each of the robbery convictions and 15 years’ imprisonment for the possession-of-a-controlled-substance conviction.…
