Appeal from decree of corporation court of city of Norfolk, rendered June 20th, 1887, in the suit wherein Richard H. Jones and Susan A., his wife (the appellants), are defendants, and W. W. Degge (the appellee), is plaintiff.

This was a suit in equity to subject the separate estate of a married woman to the payment of a certain negotiable note for $500, executed jointly by herself and husband, on the 14th of February, 1885. The note was given for a debt due by the liusband to the plaintiff for the purchase of a one-half interest in a weekly newspaper, known as the “ Sunday Gazette,” published in the city of Norfolk.
