Plaintiff’s evidence tends to show the following facts:
About 8:00 p.m. on 12 January 1961 he was driving a tractor-trailer unit of his employer, Atlantic States Motor Lines, loaded with 16,000 pounds of freight, at a speed of 45 to 50 miles an hour, north on U. S. Highway #29 between the city of Greensboro and the city of Reids-ville. The road was dry; the weather was dear; no fog. At that time U. S. Highway #29 was a two-lane highway.
