OPINION

RICK STRANGE, Justice.

The jury convicted Forrest Kevin Bol-linger of possession of a firearm by a felon, and the trial court assessed punishment at thirty-five years confinement. We affirm.

I. Background Facts

Shortly after midnight on January 24, 2005, Bollinger was stopped on Interstate 10 by two Sutton County Sheriffs deputies for speeding. The deputies asked their dispatcher to check Bollinger’s license plate and driver’s license numbers and the driver’s license number of Bollinger’s passenger.
