Defendant was indicted on April 7, 1983, for unlawful possession of a weapon, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5b, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, N.J.S.A. 24:21-20(a-l), and possession of hollow-nose bullets, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-3f. He failed to appear for his arraignment and on May 20, 1983, the court issued a bench warrant for his arrest.
On March 27, 1987, the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office filed a detainer against defendant in the State of Florida where defendant was being held in a correctional institution. On July 16, 1987, defendant…
