Defendants, David King and Louis Roberson, were jointly tried and found guilty in a jury trial of attempted murder (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1983, ch. 38, par. 8 — 4(a)), aggravated battery (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1983, ch. 38, par. 12 — 4(b)(1)), conspiracy to commit robbery (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1983, ch. 38, par. 8 — 2(a)), and attempted armed robbery (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1983, ch. 38, par. 8 — 4(a)). Each defendant was sentenced to concurrent extended terms of 50 years’ imprisonment for attempted murder and 14 years’ imprisonment for conspiracy.
