Supreme Court of North Carolina

1Opinion of the Court

FRYE, Justice.

In the instant case, the issue presented, which is one of first impression, is whether third-party contributions may be used to support a deviation from the North Carolina Child Support Guidelines. We answer in the affirmative, thereby reversing the decision of the Court of Appeals on this issue. However, we also conclude that the Court of Appeals was correct that the trial court’s order in the instant case did not contain findings required by the statute. Accordingly, the decision of the Court of Appeals is affirmed on this issue.
