In this action the plaintiff, B. H. Howie, seeks to recover from the defendants, Florence Ice & Fuel Company (hereinafter referred to as the Florence Company) and Mountain Ice Company (hereinafter referred to as the Mountain Company) , damages for injuries alleged to have been sustained by him by reason of certain acts of the defendants in pursuance of a combination and conspiracy, directed particularly at him, for the elimination of competition in the sale of ice at retail in the City of Florence.
