Shinn for the larceny of a check which was in the following words and figures: Alexandria, Va., August 18th, 1874. The Citizens Bank of Alexandria: Pay to Geo. R. *The court is of opinion that the defendant’s first plea in abatement docs not present any proper matter of defence to the indictment. The design of the statute in requiring the judges of the several county and corporation courts to select from ihe qualified voters forty-eight persons, who shall be grand jurors for the next twelve months thereafter, was merely to secure a sufficient number of qualified grand jurors, during that period.
