In May, 1887, a corporation called the Saratoga Union was organized under the General Manufacturing Act of 1848 and the acts amending the same, for the purpose of publishing a newspaper in Saratoga Springs. The certificate of incorporation was signed and acknowledged by Benjamin F.- Judson, Edmund J. Huling, John W. Howe, R. F. Knapp, and the plaintiff, who thus became the incorporators, and they were named in the certificate as the trustees for the first year.
