This action was brought by the plaintiff to recover damages to a lot of cotton shipped by him over the railroad of defendant company, under a contract to deliver the same to Seignous & Son at Charleston, as he alleged, a considerable portion of which was not delivered to said Seignous & Son until after a considerable lapse of time, whereby the cotton was greatly damaged by exposure to the weather.
