BURNS, J.

In this negligence case, defendant State of Hawaii, dba Hilo Hospital, appeals the $400,000judgment entered in favor of plaintiffs. We affirm.

OnJuly22,1973, Emmett Yorita, born August 14,1965,height4 feet 3 inches, weight 42% pounds, was admitted to Hilo Hospital for a tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy. The operation was performed under general anesthesia by Dr. Pete T.
