¶ 1. The State appeals from an order denying its motion for redetermination of Keith M. Carey's competency to stand trial. The State argues that the circuit erred in concluding that it did not have the authority to order Carey to undergo a competency evaluation under the language of Wis. Stat. § 971.14(6)(a) and (d) (2001-02). We agree and reverse and remand for proceedings consistent with this opinion.
