Following a jury trial, defendant Reginald Lynch was found guilty of armed robbery and sentenced to 20 years’ imprisonment. Defendant now appeals claiming that: (1) he is entitled to a new sentencing hearing where the trial court imposed the 20-year term without considering a presentence investigation report as required by section 5— 3 — 1 of the Unified Code of Corrections (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1979, ch. 38, par. 1005 — 3—1); (2) the trial court abused its discretion in sentencing defendant to a term of 20 years’ imprisonment.
