Defendant was indicted for murder and voluntary manslaughter. He was tried before a jury, found guilty of voluntary manslaughter and sentenced by the court to the penitentiary for a term of 6 to 12 years. In his appeal, he contends that the trial court erred in failing to discharge him under the four-month statute; that he was not proved guilty beyond a reasonable doubt; that the court erred in allowing certain witnesses to testify; and finally that the sentence imposed was excessive and should be reduced.
