Following a jury trial, defendant was convicted of two counts of attempted murder (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1979, ch. 38, pars. 8 — 4, 9 — 1) and two counts of aggravated battery (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1979, ch. 38, par. 12 — 4(a)), and sentenced to 12 years’ imprisonment.
