COOPER, Justice.

Appellants Sherman Dejuan Davis and Melissa Felts were jointly tried in the Jefferson Circuit Court for offenses alleged to have been perpetrated against Felts’s two-year-old daughter, Sabrina Felts, who died on the night of May 20-21, 1994. Davis was convicted of wanton murder and first-degree criminal abuse and sentenced to confinement in the penitentiary for one hundred (100) years for murder and ten (10) years for criminal abuse.
