This is an appeal from a conviction of murder in the first degree. The transcript *622consists of two thousand five hundred pages of printed matter. It will, therefore, be impossible, within the compass of a legal opinion, to present any thing like an analysis of this vast mass of evidence. All that we can hope to do is to state the errors which have • been assigned by counsel, and briefly state our conclusion upon them.
