JERRY E. SMITH, Circuit Judge:

H. Wailen York was charged with a wide variety of criminal acts, ranging from wire fraud to making false statements to federally insured lending institutions. York was involved in the so-called “1-30” condominium matter, 1 and the charges against him arose from his efforts to obtain financing for his real estate deals. After a two-week jury trial, York was convicted on 17 of 20 counts and sentenced to 35 years in prison. 2
