This is an appeal from an order of criminal contempt against a criminal defense attorney from New York who repeatedly violated the ground rules the district court had laid down for the conduct of a jury trial. The principal legal issue the attorney raises, and amicus National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL) supports, is that obstruction of justice is a prerequisite to criminal contempt against an attorney defending a criminal defendant.
