GREMILLION, Judge.

| ,The defendants, Gravity Drainage District No. 4 of Ward 3 of Calcasieu Parish (the district) and American Alternative Insurance Corporation, appeal the jury verdict in favor of the plaintiffs, 24 homeowners whose properties are located within the drainage district. These homes experienced flooding in the wake of Hurricane Rita in September 2005, and plaintiffs claimed that the planning and delayed implementation of measures intended to cope with the hurricane resulted in the flooding.
