The Virginia-Carolina Chemical Company, a corporation, instituted an action at law against Thomas B. Glass: The declaration contains three counts, the first count being based upon a certain promissory note, dated the fourth day of February, 1913, executed by the defendant to the order of the plaintiff for the amount of $1937-73 and payable on the first day of June, 1913, “with interest from maturity at the rate of 8% per annum, with all costs of collection, including 10% attorney s fees, if collected by law or through an attorney,” and the second and third counts being the common counts for…
