BOGGS, Circuit Judge.
Justin James pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(1). The district court applied what the Sentencing Commission’s Guidelines Manual refers to as a “cross reference” and sentenced James in the same manner as if he had committed attempted second-degree murder. James argues that applying the cross reference was procedurally improper and that, even if it were proper, the district court lacked sufficient evidence to sentence James under the attempted-murder cross reference.
