Sharon Conner, widow of Roy Conner, sued James R. Savoie, Sheriff of Cameron Parish, and his insurer, Southern American Insurance Company (erroneously named in the caption), for damages for the death of her husband, alleging that a cause in fact of his death was the failure of certain deputy sheriffs to carry out their duty of rescue.
