Plaintiff John B. Massengill, a former employee of Owens-Illinois Glass Company, retired as totally disabled because of a back condition in the year 1967 at the age of 56. For nine years, he received monthly disability benefits under a group policy issued by Aetna Life Insurance Company to Owens-Illinois Glass Company for its employees. For that inclusive period, the policy provided for payments whether the disability was caused by injury or by disease.
