| ¶ This is a medical malpractice case. This case involves an orthopedic surgeon’s alleged negligence in discharging a patient from the hospital, following a complicated knee replacement surgery, with a Hickman catheter in place without any order for its removal, use, or care.1 The patient, Arthur Serpas, Jr., brought this malpractice suit against the surgeon, Dr. Robert Barrack.
