On the occasion in question there were stored in the compress, owned and operated by appellant, about 15,006 bales of ginned cotton, not yet compressed. These bales were stacked or piled in tiers, each tier composed as follows : The bottom bale on the floor was placed standing on end. The height of a bale standing on end is approximately 56 inches. Next to this bale and against it another bale was placed also standing on its end.
