Defendant Eugene Clark was charged with violating the conditions of his probation. (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1977, ch. 38, par. 1005 — 6—3(a)(1).) He was subsequently found guilty of that violation and was sentenced to a term of 5 years imprisonment with 2 years of mandatory supervised release. On appeal defendant asks this court to consider (1) whether the State failed to prove the violation of probation by a preponderance of the evidence, and (2) whether the trial court erred when it imposed the latter sentence upon defendant.
