In this case, on remand from the United States Supreme Court, we are asked to determine whether the search by the police of the trunk of the vehicle defendant was operating immediately prior to his arrest was permissible. *639Michigan v Long, — US —; 103 S Ct 3469; 77 L Ed 2d 1201 (1983).
