Appeal from an order of the Family Court of Rensselaer County (Lalor, J.), entered December 15, 2011, which dismissed petitioner’s application, in a proceeding pursuant to Family Ct Act article 6, for visitation with his child.

Petitioner, the father of the child who is the subject of this proceeding (born in 2009), has been incarcerated since before the child’s birth as a result of his violent assault on the child’s mother, respondent Joyce Valigorsky, when she was over eight months pregnant.
