ALPERT, Judge.

In this case of first impression, we are asked to decide whether a Maryland court has jurisdiction over a Pennsylvania hospital that provided services to a Maryland resident in Pennsylvania.

Hugh Wilson (“Mr. Wilson”) needed a liver transplant. He was insured through his wife’s policy with Chesapeake Health Plan, a health maintenance organization (“HMO”). When his ailment was discovered during a routine physical examination, he was referred to Dr. Martin B. Cooper, a specialist.
