The defendant was indicted for the murder of one J. T. Richey, alleged to have been committed on the 8th of August, 1899, and the case came on for trial at the March term of the Court of General Sessions for Oconee County for the year 1900. The bill of indictment having been found by a grand jury on the 12th day of March, 1900. This grand jury was composed of eighteen men, none of whom had been members of the grand jury for the preceding year, 1899, but all of whom had been drawn pursuant to the mandate of a writ of venire (a…
