Chester Rudnicki, plaintiff in error, and Mike Valaskas and Walter Pelka were jointly indicted in the criminal court of Cook county for conspiracy. The indictment, consisting of one count, charged the defendants and divers other persons whose names were unknown to the grand jury with conspiracy to unlawfully obtain money, personal goods and merchandise from divers persons, firms, corporations, currency exchange operators and merchants, by means of the confidence game through the use of false and bogus checks purporting to be drawn by the Strand Manufacturing Company.
