This is a petition brought under Pub. Sts. c. 52, §§ 15, 16, for the assessment of damages caused to the petitioner’s land abutting on Grafton Street in the respondent city by reason of changes in the grade of the street. Before the change of grade the street was a public way forty-nine and one half feet wide, and the part wrought for travel was from twenty to twenty-five feet wide. The petitioner’s land was upon the easterly side of the street, and its surface at the line of the street was several feet above the level of the wrought part.
