A jury in the Superior Court convicted the defendant of unlawful possession of a firearm, G. L. c. 269, § 10 (a), and of unlawful possession of ammunition, G. L. c. 269, § 10 (h). The defendant has appealed, arguing that (1) the judge committed reversible error in allowing the Commonwealth to use one of its peremptory challenges to exclude the only African-American from the jury; and (2) the judge’s instructions to the jury on reasonable doubt (which were not objected to) were erroneous, and the error created a substantial risk of a miscarriage of justice.
