Frank Richards, a pretrial detainee under the Involuntary Civil Commitment of Sexually Violent Predators Act, 1 filed a petition for writ of prohibition, certiorari, or habeas corpus seeking his immediate release from pretrial detention and dismissal of the petition for involuntary civil commitment without prejudice because of the State’s failure to bring him to trial within thirty days from the date of the probable cause determination as required by section 394.916(1), Florida Statutes (2009).
