Robert F. Austin died March 31, 1885, leaving him surviving his widow, Anna S., and an only son, Daniel W. His estate consisted principally of liis interest in the grocery firm of Austin, Nichols & Co. ' This interest, January 31, immediately preceding his death, had a value on the books of the firm of $306,000. On January 1, following his death, his executor-s adjusted it with the surviving partners at $222,286.78, which they subsequently realized.
