The plaintiff filed suit against the sheriff and district attorney of Calcasieu Parish seeking recovery following her detention on a warrant not withdrawn from a national database after the district attorney’s office rejected criminal charges against her. The lower court denied both a motion for summary judgment filed by the defendant sheriff, which is addressed in this opinion, and an exception of no cause of action filed by the district attorney, which is addressed in a separate discussion.1 Both defendants sought supervisory writs in this court.
