Defendants were charged with criminal possession of auto components with the manufacturer’s identification number removed. (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1973, ch. 95/2, par. 4 — 102.) Pursuant to Supreme Court Rule 604 (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1969, ch. 110A, par. 604), the State appeals from an order of the circuit court of Cook County sustaining defendants’ motion to suppress certain evidence. In view of appellees’ failure to file a brief in this court, we have accepted appellant’s recitation of the facts in its brief as accurate. See First Capitol Mortgage Corp. v.
