I agree with the result reached by my Brother Brickley’s opinion. I reach that result, however, by a somewhat different route. For the reasons stated below, I believe plaintiffs’ defamation claim is insupportable as a matter of law, and that defendants were entitled to pretrial summary judgment when they so moved in 1982.11 therefore agree that defendants are now entitled to a reversal of the Court of Appeals judgment presently before us, and a reinstatement of the circuit court’s directed verdict. I adopt Justice Brickley’s thorough statement of the facts.
