This appeal relates to a suit for refund of franchise tax assessments totaling $46,129.74, which appellant, Gulf Oil Corporation (hereinafter called Gulf) paid under protest for ¿he years 1970, 1971, and 1972. In 1968, appellant amended its Articles of Incorporation so as to provide for a two for one stock split by reclassifying and changing its outstanding shares of stock from par value of $8.33 1/3 per share to no-par $4.16 2/3 per share stated value.
