LAY, Chief Judge.

Robert Loggins, a Missouri prisoner, was convicted of first degree assault and sentenced by a state circuit judge to a term of twenty years. The Missouri Court of Appeals affirmed his conviction. See State v. Loggins, 647 S.W.2d 551 (Mo.App.1982). Loggins thereafter petitioned for a writ of habeas corpus in federal district court, 1 alleging that he had been denied due process of law by the state trial court’s refusal to grant him a continuance, and that his right of confrontation had been infringed by the admission of certain prior testimony given by the victim of the…
